Tallapoosa Police spearheaded a major investigation Wednesday, Oct. 14, that led to the discovery of a “very sophisticated” marijuana-growing operation concealed in a building on 330 Golf Course Road in Tallapoosa.

Tallapoosa Police Chief Scott Worthy said the bust took the help of several West Georgia law enforcement agencies, including Haralson, Carroll and Paulding County police and the Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force, who arrived at the scene of the massive recovery of drug paraphernalia and other products that enabled manufacturers to “produce millions of dollars” worth of marijuana, according to information Worthy received from an investigator in the case.

“It was a very elaborate setup. They had tables, 500-gallon water containers, grow lights. It was just a total hydroponics setup,” Worthy described.

He said the investigation began several months ago after a citizen called police with concerns about suspicious activity going on at the building where the drug manufactory was later discovered.

Worthy said the resident’s concerns prompted police to visit the location to find out what type of business was actually being run. Though police heard people inside upon their arrival, Worthy said no one would answer the door, and it “got quiet” as if no one was there at the time.

“We began to keep a close eye on things for a while, and after we found out the persons involved, we were told the business was either used to store antique cars or served as an office supply store. We checked their criminal history, and then obtained a search warrant for the business that the Drug Enforcement Agency came down to issue.”

In addition to utilities records from Georgia Power and water records from the city of Tallapoosa that police had subpoenaed for the investigation, Worthy said research further revealed that four of the people allegedly involved in the drug ring were residents of Paulding County who had relocated from Broward County, Fla., to operate the drug manufactory.

“They bought the building in February of this year and brought up electricians and got everything built. They were probably in the business of manufacturing since April,” he added.

Worthy said the investigation ended with three arrest warrants, which were issued outside of the Tallapoosa jurisdiction. Three of the alleged participants also received charges in Tallapoosa for manufacturing marijuana; however, the case is still under investigation.

Laureen Hobdy is being held at the Haralson County Jail, while Richard Carl Fata and Judd Alexander Hobdy are being held at the Paulding County Jail. Another man, Jason Henry Pimpenpel, is still being sought by police.

I have never smoked pot. I don't even drink. But our laws have it all wrong when it comes to marijuana. 47.5% of all drug arrests in our country was for marijuana offenses. 60% of all people in prison serving time for a drug offense had no history of violence or significant selling activity. 91% of addicts in the U.S. do not receive proper treatment. I would rather my tax dollars be spent rehabilitating these non-violent drug offenders than throwing them in prison, which has far worse negative effects on families, especially when it wipes out family incomes, than the fact that someone was caught with possession of an illegal drug. 75% of people who abuse drugs are actually employed. It's time marijuana became a controlled susbtance in America the same way cigarettes and alcohol are controlled.

there were no plants involved in this bust. these guys knew the cops were on to them. they moved all of the plants to 3 other locations in the hopes of giving the piggies the slip. police eventually found the 3 other locations and all of the plants they never caught at the warehouse. All told they got 2,334 plants and 20 pounds of some dank ass bud ready for sale. Here's a link to the story on the follow up investigation that led to the plants being found

One of these guys got away and all I got to say is run slim shady run!

Dude the 3 people they arrested were white, what the hell are you guys talking about??

because its a drug bust/crime report, its automatically about black people or mexicans? did you guys even READ the report?

also, those photos were taken AFTER they confiscated the plants, just to show you this size of the operation. again, did anyone even READ beyond the title?

So they were growing pot plants? Seriously find something better to do... What did you accomplish? Ruining a few peoples lives? Pot is unaffected by this bust. You will never get rid of pot so just get over it. Good luck to your "plant" investigations, your family must be so proud. What a joke of a law enforcement agency. How many agencies involved for plants? Meanwhile mass murders continue to go undetected all around the country... Going to smoke some pot. :)

Nice grow room they had there. The person arrested is a dude by the name of eminem over at icmag.com who has a donation fund to help him/her out.

Overgrow the planet. Plant seeds everywhere!

Not a big fan of dealers but if I have to choose a side, chances are im taking the plant growers on this one.

how many plants zero? Maybe it wasn't even a weed garden. Maybe it's an orchid farm. But wait, there's no orchids either. Maybe it's lettuce farming, but no lettuce. Good work piglets, way to bust a rock garden.

Between the blacks, hispanics muslims, etc., the situation in the world is becoming dire. If you live in a place like Augusta, Ga or apelanta, you may want to think about moving.

SOUTH AZ BORDER- I have seen areas in the south side of Chicago (one of the most crime plagued areas in the U.S.) which have been overrun by illegals. I was in L.A. in the early nineties and most of it was ruined by street crime and drive-by shootings. Yet, the average Amerikwan still thinks that Lou Dobbs is gonna save us.Bwa-ha-ha!!

Some excellent comments here. The filthy little mestizos destroy every community they infest. They actually are so bad that they can push out blacks. Please start talking to your friends, family, and neighbors about this.
